Betfred League One Round Up | Round 18

There were big wins on the road for North Wales Crusaders and Rochdale Hornets in Betfred League One.

North Wales maintained a four-point lead at the top of the table after thrashing bottom-placed Newcastle.

The league leaders ran riot with a total of 13 tries in the Northeast, which included a hat-trick from Sam Wilde and braces from Joe Baldwin and Jack Holmes.

In doing so, the Crusaders have now secured their 2025 Play-Off place and take one step closer to securing the League One title.

Rochdale also enjoyed a convincing win in Round 17 after putting 50 points on Goole at the Victoria Pleasure Ground.

It was far from the homecoming the Vikings would have wanted, but the Hornets were an unstoppable force on Sunday.

Luke Forber scored five fantastic tries for his side, as the Rochdale made it back-to-back nillings over their opponents.

At Cougar Park, Keighley registered their fourth win of the season after a close contest with Whitehaven - who they welcomed to West Yorkshire in Round 17.

The Cougars always led, drawing first blood as Junior Nuu went over the whitewash to open the scores.

Minutes later Junior Sau extended the hosts’ lead, before Jay Weatherill raced away to bank the first lot of points for the Cumbrian side.

Weatherill then grabbed his second through an acrobatic finish to level things up at 10 points apiece heading into half-time.

Brad Holroyd and Brad England crossed early in the second stanza for Keighley, before England delivered the killer blow with another try to put the game out of reach.

Max Anderson-Moore managed a consolation on the hooter for Haven, but Anthony Murray’s men fell to a sixth straight defeat.

Finally, Swinton came out on top against Midlands and moved into second place.

It was a ferocious affair with little to separate the two sides, except Harry Higham’s match-winning moment for the Lions on the 71st minute.

Higham dotted down in the corner to snatch it for Swinton, who return to winning ways as the Hurricanes remain in fourth.
